Civil War Blocks

I knew I wanted to put my civil war blocks on point, I just didn't know how I wanted to set the blocks. Last Saturday I saw a setting for the civil war blocks I really liked on Barbara Brackman's Civil War Quilts post. Since I'm kind of a lazy sort (I like to think I'm working smarter, not harder) I decided I was going to create the corner settings by making two similar blocks then cut the blocks in half. I did my normal screw up by not making the blocks correctly, but I like my version just as well.

It's going to take a while to finish this quilt with the additional piecing and I'm a little worried I may not have enough left over fabrics to make corners for all the block. I'm also a little worried that this quilt could be quite large, on point the block is 12.25 unfinished. I have 48 blocks made...maybe I should find a second block setting and make two quilts instead of one.

Happy Valentine's Day

I know I'm a little late. But better late than never, right?

A few weeks ago I won this cute Valentine wool kit and hanger from Heidi at Handmade for Heidi. Thank you, Heidi! This should be fast and fun to make...and maybe it will be done before next Valentine's Day.

Civil War Blocks

Are done! Or at least the ones I'm going to make are done. I decided I'm not going to make the various applique blocks. Here are the final blocks...

I would like to know how a person can sew, iron, take a picture, put it in a collage and not see an in your face, obvious as can be error until it is added to a post. Did you spot my boo-boo right away? Bet you did.

Frenzy

Yesterday was a sew day with Nancy. I got the final border added to my stripe frenzy quilt. The pattern is called Frenzy by Maple Island Quilts and is SO easy and SEW fun to make.

I love the poppy fabric, it helped tone down the busyness of the stripes a lot.

Dizzy yet?

And of course I made a little table topper out of the left overs.
