What's a Girl to Do

When the circuit breaker blows half way through your vacuuming and the breaker won't reset? When you finally get a clear sunny day so you can admire the dandelion patches growing all round the house? A smart girl would call an electrician. A really smart girl would go outside, bask in the sun and pull weeds.

What did I do?

I put the half square triangle border on the medallion quilt twice - wrong. FYI, 26/2 equals 13, not 12. Yes, I got A's in college calculus but I obviously can't do remedial math.

But I did get 12 on two sides. Huh? When I tried to put the third side on there was no way it was going to fit and green blocks on each side were facing different directions.

So I took it apart, took the strip apart, and started over. How does a person get 13 blocks on one side, 14 on another and FIFTEEN on a third? AND THE GREEN TRIANGLES ARE STILL GOING THE WRONG WAY ON ONE SIDE!!

And contrary to popular belief there was no wine involved.

I guess it is true, the third times the charm.

Good thing I'm really liking how this quilt is turning out or it would probably be in the trash.

And Another One Bites the Dust

You chose, month or year, they both whizzed by.

The only gift sewing I did this Christmas was this table runner. I made four. There is a reason most patterns start with "Read the instruction completing before beginning"...smarty pants me read the cutting instructions but just followed the diagrams in the rest of the pattern...hmmm, isn't this a quilt-as-you-go pattern? why isn't my table runner quilted? might of helped if I read ALL of the instructions. So three of the four are done and one is pinned, ready for quilting.

I started embroidering this little dog over 10 years ago...I found it while I was digging for something else and decide it needed to be done. It is now pinned and ready for quilting.

On New Year's Day Nancy and Stephanie came over to do some marathon sewing. Nancy pieced a quilt back and cut out and started a new quilt. Stephanie finished one baby quilt and made a significant dent in another.  Bad friend that I am I don't have pictures of any of their quilts.  I was probably eating as we had lots of really good munchies for the day.

After significant procrastination on my part I finally got two rows (12 blocks) out of five (18 blocks and the border left to do) quilted on the butterfly quilt (last post about this quilt was in October). Now that I've started on the blocks I should finish this quickly (famous last words).

I also started a medallion quilt. I've been wanting to make one for ages. I'm making up the pattern as I go. Should be an interesting process.

Loris recently gifted me her Stonehenge scraps. I'm combining them with my scraps and have started paper piecing this 5 inch block. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the blocks yet, it is another one I'm going to make up as I go but I'm really liking it so far.

With the new year I always get the urge to "organize" my scraps. I have one bin and three large bags full of pieces and parts. My organizing always seems to make a big mess...this is the clean side of the room. I'm not crazy enough to show you the really messy side.

But I have made progress. Hopefully by 2017 I will finish. ;o)
